Mirrors do such a great job of helping you look your best before you head to the office for another day at work. However, your favorite mirror at home can get all streaky and dirty as well. Here are some tips for cleaning your mirror the right way.
You have probably heard of using newspapers to clean your mirrors; unfortunately, that trick no longer works in this day and age. According to Clean My Space, this technique is no longer effective because of the kind of ink used in newspapers nowadays.
Instead of getting a squeaky clean and clear mirror, you will only end up with an even streakier mirror right after. Aside from this, most people often use paper towels to clean and dry off the surface, however, this will only leave your mirror with flecks of lint afterwards.
The solution, therefore, lies in the use of the right tools, materials and cleaning technique. The publication suggested on the use of a flat-weave microfiber cloth instead of regular cloths, newspapers or paper towels.
Rubbing alcohol and a glass cleaner must also be available when cleaning your mirrors. To start off the process, you need to get rid of any blobs or dirt stuck on your mirror.
Using a cotton pad with some rubbing alcohol, wipe off any visible globs and dirt. Then, using a glass mirror sprayed with the glass cleaner, wipe off the mirror using a motion called the "S Pattern" from top to bottom.
Real Simple also suggested on doing a couple of things to ensure a cleaner bathroom while you are already cleaning your mirrors at home.
According to the publication, soap scum can be easily eliminated and prevented by applying a coat of glass treatment over the surface of shower doors every 3 months.
Doing so will eliminate any need to scrub off soap scum every week. Aside from this, make it a habit to completely dry off your towels to eliminate any potential breeding grounds for bacteria and mildew.
