How to Get Rid of Ants in Your Home Naturally

Ants are more active on warmer days, and this can cause a lot of problems. Like any other pest, ants look for a warm place when it gets colder outside, and the best place is inside a warm house.

For Rent suggested some ways on how to get rid of ants in homes. According to them, strong chemicals are not needed to eliminate these tiny troublemakers. There are natural remedies that can be used instead to get rid of ants.

Borax is one of the best natural solutions to kill ants. All that is needed is one tablespoon of borax, mixed with one cup of sugar and one-half cup of water. Just put a spoonful of the mixture anywhere inside the house that is not visible to the pets. The sugar will attract the ants which will bring the portion of borax back to their colony, killing more ants. This solution should be kept away from children and pets as it is poisonous.

Destroying the ants right in their home is also effective. Mix water with salt to make a strong solution and pour it in the anthill to kill them. This method should be done a number of times over a few days to entirely eliminate the whole colony.

An article from Healthy and Natural World says that ants love corn meal, which can kill them. Once they eat the corn meal, they will not be able to digest it; their stomach will expand and burst resulting to an unpleasant death.

Vinegar is also an effective ant repellent. Spraying white vinegar at all entry points and along their paths for several days will discourage ants and force them to look for another place. It will not kill them though, but it can be an effective method to get rid of them.

Another fun way to get rid of them is a piece of white chalk. Ants won't cross chalk line. It is a good way to put an end to their trail.
