Utilizing the moving truck's space effectively will not only give you convenience, it will also save you more time and money. Below are some tips on how to pack your moving truck efficiently.
It would be easy if you plan your stuff. Give yourself some time to arrange your things in proper order. Queue your items and boxes in order to make your loading fast and easy.
Get some moving gear. Make sure that you have furniture pads and straps to protect the items. Don't forget to get a hand truck for moving heavy objects. Use large plastic bags to wrap mattresses and box springs. Put mirrors and framed wall arts in a cardboard boxes. Place small appliances in a sturdy box.
Load heavier items first. For extra support, the refrigerators and other large furniture should be resting against the cab area. Balance the heavy items by placing them evenly throughout the truck. By doing these, the truck will be easier to control and the items will be easier to unload.
Disassemble tables and other detachable furniture that can take too much space. However, if it is not possible, you may put boxes on top and other items underneath to maximize the space. A couch takes up more space when loaded horizontally. Setting it on its end will reduce the space it takes up. Most moving trucks' ceilings are high enough where you can place your couch vertically.
Load the bookshelf with small boxes to utilize the space to the fullest. Otherwise, the space in the bookshelf would be holding just air and boxes would be eating a lot of space in the truck.
Make sure that there are no gaps. Heavy boxes should be placed against the heavy items on the side to keep them from shifting. Place lighter boxes on top of heavier boxes. Fragile items should be well packed and it should be the last items to load.
