Celebrity Home News: Former U.K. Prime Minister, Margaret Thatcher's London Home Lists for $43.5M

Margaret Thatcher's home in London is being sold at $43.5 million.

Mirror UK has reported on Sunday that Thatcher's London home is on the market. Although there are no final updates on the pricing, real estate experts have estimated that the mansion could list for as much as $43.5 million or £30 million due to its association with the first female Prime Minister of the U.K.

The mansion is located at the exclusive Belgravia neighborhood and has a total of six stories, fit for a queen. The estate has become the Iron Lady's home before she passed away in 2013. After that, people from Leconfield, a luxury developer in the U.K., took over the home to renovate it. The updating of the Chester Square real estate costed more than a million pounds.

Even after the renovation, the developer still left a few details of the home, which are very Thatcher-esque. These include the '73' inlay found on the home's doorstep.

Leconfield also retained the bomb-proof door, which was installed in the house after Thatcher barely escaped the bombing in Brighton Hotel in 1984, Metro UK noted.

Aside from the customized details, the projected $43.5 million property features skylights, parquet floors and flooring used in the House of Commons, and Louis XVI fireplaces in the main rooms. There is also a wine cellar which could house up to 500 bottles.

The entire second floor is dedicated to the master's suite, with an expansive double bedroom, a master's bath, and a dressing room. There are five more bedrooms in the London property including an accommodation for the staff.

Although the house seems all too formal and traditional, it still features modern areas like a gym and cinema room.

Experts say that buyers from the Middle East and the United States are expected to bid on this popular property especially those who love purchasing "trophy" homes, estates previously owned by renowned figures.
