Home Living Tips: Easy Ways to Make Your House Stress Free

Stress is one of the things that you may encounter if not every day, at least every Monday -- to those who are living a busy life. Your home is the best place to relax after a stressful day at work.

One of the best ways to calm and soothe your anxiety is to use lavender scent. You may light some lavender scented candle or drop some lavender oil on your pillow before going to sleep. Lavender oil can also be added to a relaxing warm bath.

Reorganizing your living space promotes a sense of balance. This is a good way of harnessing your chi. Even though creating good chi for feng shui is not easy, doing so is rewarding and really worth it. Arrange your furniture in a way that allows smooth transition from space to space. This is also a good way to separate play areas of your apartment from work areas.

Cool colors promote feelings of calmness. Painting your room green, blue, white, gray or purple can have a good effect on the mood once you enter that space. Opt for muted, faded hues to achieve the full effect. If you are not able to paint your walls, you may add cool-colored wall drapes and accent pieces. You may try putting temporary wallpaper with cool shades and patterns.

"The state of your bed reflects the state of your head," says Zen Buddhist priest and author Karen Maezen Miller. Always take a few minutes to make your bed every day.

Replace your alarm clock with the morning's natural light. "When your alarm goes off, your first feeling is resistance, which creates stress," Miller says. "Sunlight is a gentler wake-up call."

Dispose some of your stuff using your emotions as a guide. Let go of the things that have negative energy like photos from failed relationships, medicines from an old ailment or unfinished projects. Create a room for stuff that have a positive association.
