Fixing common household problems on your own will only save you some money. Also, it will solve the problem as fast as possible without waiting for the maintenance guy.
An overflowing toilet looks scary. Some reasons behind overflowing terror are clogged drains or an improperly installed floater. Turn the toilet's water supply off. There should be a valve attached to the supply line. Turning the valve counter counterclockwise will stop the water from flowing. Remove the water from the toilet using a bucket and clear the pipe using a plunger.
Vinegar and baking soda can clear clogged pipes of your sink. Just pour 1/4 cup of baking soda down the clogged pipe followed by one cup of white vinegar. Let it sit for 20-30 minutes, just enough time to clear out the dirt that is blocking the pipes. Then pour some water to see if the solution cleared up the blockage.
Squeaky door hinges can be fixed by spraying a little WD-40 and moving the door back and forth to spread the lubricant. You may also lift the hinges about halfway and use three-in-one oil to lubricate it. Use a rag to catch the drips.
If your tub has stains, combine equal amounts of baking soda and cream of tartar with enough lemon juice to form a paste. Rub the paste into the stain using your fingers or a soft cloth. Rinse it well with water after half an hour.
A little silicone spray lubricant can fix stuck sliding window. Spray it onto a rag and spread it along the tracks. It works well with wood, plastic or metal.
Caning sags overtime. It's just natural and reversible. To tighten it back, wet the underside with warm water using a sponge. Let dry overnight and repeat if necessary.
If your smoke alarm won't stop beeping, and there is no presence of fire, just simply replace the battery. Low battery causes the smoke alarm to continuously beep. If it is connected via wires, make sure it is plugged in properly.
