Titanic Replica to Set Sail on 2018, Adding Modern Technology Into It's Classic Design

The luxury ship Titanic will always be in our memories especially after Kate Winslet and Leonardo DiCaprio's movie that captured many hearts. Today, many Titanic fans will be pleased to know that there will be a replica of the RMS Titanic called the Titanic II.

The new ship that is soon to be built will stick to every detail of the original ship. Although most luxury ships these days have many modern features, the replica will have classic details with one small indoor six feet swimming pool, Turkish baths and even an Edwardian gym.

Yes, you might not see robot bartenders in here but you will surely cringe by the thought that you will seemingly access the historic ship that sank in the Atlantic Ocean more than 100 years ago, during its maiden sail from Southampton to New York in 1912.

Titanic II is the brainchild of the owner of Blue Star Line, Australian businessman and politician Clive Palmer and it will be launched on 2018. For now, they have the renderings for the ship which is 13 feet longer than the original ship since it is 885ft in length. But its height of 174ft and weight of 40,000 tonnes will be similar to the original, the Belfast Telegraph reported.

It will also have areas for the first, second and third class passengers. Of course, it will not miss the grand staircase, the smoking room, the cabins, dining rooms, Café Parisien and the Marconi Room. All the details of the original ship will be added to the replica.

Although it will feature many classic details, modern technology will also be added like a helipad on the aft deck, a diesel-electric propulsion system instead of steam engines, high-tech navigational equipment, welded hull instead of riveted ones, and stabilizers.

It will also have modern-day evacuation systems with more than enough lifeboats. The ill-fated ship only had 1,178 lifeboat capacity even if it has 2,223 passengers and 885 crew. The new ship will have 2,700 lifeboat capacity and will accommodate 2,435 passengers with 900 crews, Mail Online reported.

Construction cost is estimated to range from £300million to £400million, which will be built at the CSC Jinling Shipyard in China.
