Real Estate News: Which Town is the Safest to Live in?

When it comes to choosing a home to live in for you and your family, safety is of utmost importance. While there are other factors that need to be considered, you might want to check out these towns, which are hailed as the ten safest cities in the United States.

Safety is something that you never want to compromise when it comes to choosing a home for your family. As previously reported here on Realty Today, safety is one of the things that homebuyers keep in mind whenever they go house searching.

Researching on the city or town you are moving into is probably one of the wisest decisions you could ever make in your life. If you wish to live in that city for the next five or ten years, you wouldn't want to live your life in fear, would you?

Of course not! Because of this, NeighborhoodScout released a list of ten safest towns in the U.S., Realtor.com reported. According to the publication, the list was taken based on data gathered from crime and population densities.

Ridgefield, CT was found to be the safest town in the U.S., wherein there is only a 1 in 382 chance of becoming a victim of crime in this particular town. Ridgefield real estate agent Paul Gervais cited a possible reason for this low-crime rate.

"It's very Norman Rockwell-esque," he said. "Everybody knows each other."

Following Ridgefield, CT are Winona, MN; Rancho Santa Margarita, CA; Franklin, MA and Bergenfield, NJ to complete the top five of the list. The lower half of the list includes Lake in the Hills, IL; Shrewbury, MA; Barlett, IL; Zionsville, IN and Aliso Viejo, CA.

The CEO of NeighborhoodScout, Andrew Schiller, also explained that these places are often located outside the hustle and bustle of the city life, but it doesn't give it any less value.

"Many of the safest cities also have the best school systems and high rates of college graduates. High-paying jobs are not far away," he said.
