The "Hunger Games: Mockingjay - Part 2" was recently reported to have raked in $76 million in terms of ticket sales during the five-day holiday period, which was from Wednesday through Sunday, in the US. In terms of gross sales, the film already reached $200 million in the US alone and $450 million around the globe.

According to a New Vision report, the fourth and the final installment of the Hunger Games series, "Hunger Games: Mockingjay - Part 2," showed dramatic increasing ticket sales from its second week film release.

Although its sales were not that high compared to the previous film franchise with $102 million, still, it has still topped the other films released like "The Good Dinosaur," a Disney animated film with $55.4 million, "Creed," the next generation "Rocky" series with $42.1 million on its first week.

Recently, the "Hunger Games: Mockingjay - Part 2" earned an estimated gross sales of $200 million in the US alone and $450 million worldwide, Forbes reported.

Forbes also stated that last Monday alone, the film earned $201.05 million from an additional $2.53 million.

Because of these ticket sales, there is already an ongoing discussion about the split of the third book into two if that was the right decision. The split was said to have caused a detrimental effect to the film.

During the interview with Forbes, Francis Lawrence, the director of the three of the last four "Hunger Games" films, said that he has mixed feelings with how the story ended -- very satisfying and gratifying.

Lawrence also shared his thoughts about the two films split from the third book. "You've got the dramatic question in part one which is 'Are we going to Peeta back?' and its own theme of propaganda and manipulation, and the second one of 'Will Katniss take down the capitol?'"

He added, "You know, we got a lot of flak for splitting the book in two. There was a fairly large, I would say, cynical backlash. The truth is, these ideas were really important to us."

The "Hunger Games: The Mockingjay -- Part 2" has topped the box office followed by "Creed" in the second place. Next in rank were "The Good Dinosaur," "Creed," "Spectre," which is the latest James Bond movie, lies at the fourth place with estimated gross sales of $18.2 million. "The Peanuts Movie" ranked the fifth film in terms of ticket sales, pulled around $13.6 million estimated.
