The Samsung recent patent, published by the USPTO on Nov. 26 showcased the foldable smartphones and tablets of Samsung. The unique design of both devices requires a lot of flexibility, which the giant company has been working on for a number of years now.
Samsung foldable devices may be a little challenging to imagine given the actual appearance of a scrollable handset, but based on the drawings, it involves a spine with a screen that can be easily pulled out. The illustrated smartphone build, on the other hand, flaunts a foldable smartphone, displaying the top half of the gadget drooping over the base half while both front and back are equipped with a screen, Gadgets NDTV reported.
Meanwhile, another design shows an item that looks like a book through the use of a hinge-like system. The front cover is armed with a display. When you open it, it creates a much bigger display, making it look like a tablet. Also, the device seem to have a screen and a body that can be easily bended. However, the patent does not have any details about its materials and other components.
Samsung rendered a lot of time trying to create flexible displays. One of its efforts was first shown in 2013 at CES event while the very first prototype was revealed at CES in 2014. Since then, a plethora of rumors has been circulating online claiming that the year 2016 is when the people will finally witness the foldable display, Digital Trends reported.
Samsung foldable device patents could also be possible for the company's upcoming project known as the "Project Valley" or "Project V," which is said to be revealed in January 2016, and might be making an appearance at CES event in the same year, also.
