Burt Reynolds gave Charlie Sheen a piece of his mind as he appeared on ITV's "Loose Women" this week. The 79-year-old actor was at the show to promote his new memoir "But Enough About Me" when he was asked the question "I wonder what you thought about Charlie Sheen recently coming out and admitting he has got HIV?," a report from Salon.com stated.
The "Boogie Nights" actor did not hesitate to answer the question and, in all honesty, said: ""He's handling it very badly, I think. His father [actor Martin Sheen] is a very, very decent man and a dear friend of mine. I feel bad for him. But Charlie, I don't feel bad for him. He's getting what he deserves. If you're going to misbehave like that, then they're going to get you."
And when the host asked Reynolds if he had any sympathy for the 50-year-old actor, he stood firm and without any delay said, "For Charlie? No. He deserves it. He misbehaved badly, very badly. But you know, when you're that age, it's tough. All those things are coming at you, and it's difficult."
Charlie Sheen may have done things that may have led people to hate him and may not feel sympathetic towards him regarding his current HIV status, however anyone, who has revealed such challenging condition about themselves does not necessary imply that they are asking for pity, the article on Salon.com stated. He may have revealed his HIV-positive status to the public but the actor is not asking for anyone to feel sympathy over his condition at all.
And with Burt Reynolds saying that a person deserves to get HIV as a punishment and not simply a virus that can be transmitted from one human to another, his response to the smug question that the panelists of the show is basically ridiculous, the report stated.
Charlie Sheen has announced that he had HIV on live television last month. After he revealed his condition, ex-partners and lovers have filed complaints and lawsuits against the actor because he allegedly failed to tell them about his condition. Later on, news of the actor's life of partying, unprotected sex, cocaine use and links to transsexuals have surfaced making the Anger Management star's life more complicated and more controversial than ever.
