"Penny Dreadful" Season 2 left its characters finding their own place in the world. Vanessa and Ethan may have successfully defeated the demon, but no good deed comes without a hefty price.
Vanessa ultimately burned the cross, which marked the end of her faith in God while Ethan struggled with guilt after realizing what he has done to Sembene. While the sophomore season of the Showtime series has resulted to the death of many of its characters, fans will be delighted to see the introduction of a new famous literary character in "Penny Dreadful" Season 3.
"I can tell you this-and this is such a tease, and I am sorry for it - but after two years, I am finally adding another famous literary character. It's been fun going into another writer's brain and bringing one of those great characters back into our world," series creator John Logan told EW.
While details about the new character in "Penny Dreadful" Season 3 are still unknown, the showrunner hinted that viewers will see the return of Hecate in the upcoming season.
Meanwhile, in another interview with The Hollywood Reporter, Logan further explained several details from the season finale of "Penny Dreadful."
The showrunner and writer revealed that Vanessa had finally accepted her dark side when she absorbed the scorpion after destroying the doll. Logan also teased that "Penny Dreadful" Season 3 will be "a real change of pace" if the characters will come back together.
