'Fear the Walking Dead' [FOWD] Update: Mixed Reviews Stirred Fans Curiosity; Pilot Episode Makes 10.1 Million Viewers, Trailer [video] Here

"Fear the Walking Dead," has skyrocketing viewership ratings despite receiving mixed reviews from different critics.

Several days before "Fear the Walking Dead" premiere, AMC has already released an initial sneak peek to the zombie apocalypse TV series. The three-minute video revealed just what the fans can expect in the first hour and a half long episode. Although zombies are sure to be present, fans would have to wait a moment before catching a glimpse of the blood-stained creatures while they hold their breath in excitement.

"Fear the Walking Dead's" initial episode truly set the backdrop for the next coming episodes. The aim is to take the time establishing all of the important characters. Most reviews agree that as soon as the apocalypse begins, there will practically be no time to get to know love and care for each character, The Week reported.

Den of Geek spent plenty of time applauding just about anything in the pilot episode. They also noted that the new show's lighting has greatly improved from that of "The Walking Dead."

Charlie Collier, President of AMC, spoke about the episode's feat. "Thank you and congratulations to Robert Kirkman, Dave Erickson, the brilliant executive producers and the entire cast and crew of 'Fear the Walking Dead' ... To have a companion series to the #1 show on television driving communal, urgent viewing, social activity and pop cultural relevance of this magnitude is truly differentiating. Of course none of it is possible without the fans, whose passion leads to these remarkable results," said Collier.

Amidst all the various "Fear the Walking Dead" comments, the pilot episode hit success last Sunday night, making "FOWD" the leading cable TV premiere in both total viewership and key demographics. The show garnered a total of 10.1 million viewers, Entertainment Weekly said.

"Fear the Walking Dead" also rated a staggering 6.3 in the 18-49 adult range.
