"Metal Gear Solid V: The Phantom Pain's" forward-operating-base is restricted, according to Game Spot.
Game Spot, the popular gaming news website, published a report last Aug. 24 saying that, in the multiplayer aspect of "Metal Gear Solid V: The Phantom Pain," the forward-operating-base is restricted and that it is behind a pay-wall.
"Metal Gear Solid V: The Phantom Pain" players need to use real-world money to purchase MB coins in order to enter the FOB because of the restriction.
When the "Metal Gear Solid V: The Phantom Pain" report reached Konami, the developer and publisher of the game immediately released a statement categorically denying Game Spot's report. The statement by Konami pointed out the inaccuracy of the post and slammed it as not true.
To clear up the issue, Konami said, "Gamespot posted an article following the review that the PVP (FOB) mode in MGSV TPP will be restricted behind a micro-transaction paywall and that is simply not true. The FOB mode will be fully accessible at launch and the micro-transaction layer to that specific feature in the game primarily acts as an accelerator," PC Gamer reported.
"We'll have more details at launch, but we did try and clear these rumors up when they started circulating during E3. We even addressed this in our official E3 2015 demo when it went live during that show," the developer continued.
"Metal Gear Solid V: The Phantom Pain" fans who are still feeling dizzy about the issue feels it's important to understand that the multiplayer FOB is different to the "Metal Gear Online." "MGO" by the way, is going to be released early next year for the PC platform.
After clarifying the "Metal Gear Solid V: The Phantom Pain" issue, changes were also made to clarify the article originally posted at Game Spot.
"Metal Gear Solid V: The Phantom Pain" FOB is not accessible yet since there is no game server to connect to yet. The servers will be up and running by Sept. 1.
The latest game for the franchise will be available on several platforms, PlayStation 3 and 4, Xbox One and 360, including Windows PC. The game is expected to be released by September.
