Android 6.0 Marshmallow will conquer Samsung Galaxy S6 and Galaxy S6 Edge on October.
Android 5.1.1 Lollipop updates were rolled out by Samsung via over-the-air (OTA) for the Samsung Galaxy S6 and Galaxy S6 Edge. The said release came with the confirmation that the two flagship devices will be given the Android 6.0 Marshmallow upon its release in October. The company's network partners such as US Cellular, T-mobile, Verizon, and Sprint, have already updated their subscribers to 5.1.1 Lollipop.
Android 5.1.1 update was received by both Galaxy S6 and S6 Edge in June. They were among the first Samsung units to receive the latest version of the Android operating system. It came with performance enhancements, several bug fixes, as well as a feature that allows users to take photos in RAW format, Tech Times reported. The company's carrier partners have also released the same upgrade.
Android 5.1.1 update was first released by T-mobile in June, beating the three big networks AT&T, Sprint, and Verizon. Surprisingly, the US Cellular company, who is known a late comer when software updates are involved, followed the releasing of the upgrade for their subscribers, International Business Times reported.
Sprint, on the other hand, released the said update in July using build numbers G925PVPU2B057 for Galaxy S6 Edge and G920VPU20F7 for Galaxy S6. According to Softpedia, Verizon, albeit late, follows in August, providing extras such as Chinese Mandarin language support and home screen enhancements. AT&T's, however, have yet to release information regarding their release, but it is believed that the network will soon follow suit.
Android 5.1.1 Lollipop developer Google advises smartphone users to frequently check for software updates to ensure their devices' proper functioning.
Meanwhile, the excitement over the much awaited Android 6.0 Marshmallow steadily rises as the date of its unveiling approaches.
Android 6.0 Marshmallow update, according to previous reports, has been confirmed for Samsung flagships Galaxy S6 and S6 Edge.
