PS4 3.0 Beta Goes Live for U.S. Testing; Firmware to Boost Online Storage to 10GB, Online Gameplay Too!

PS4 firmware 3.0 will undergo a test drive before its final release.

Sony PlayStation 4 is on for an upcoming major update. But before this, PS4's latest firmware 3.0 should be sent out for a test drive by a couple of players who will call attention to the crimps to be fixed before its grand public release.

PS4 3.0 beta testing, codenamed "Kenshin", has now gone live, PlayStation Blog declared yesterday. Fans who have previously signed up for the test-drive can now check out the beta version.

PS4 Japanese users had initial dibs on the beta version which happened in August. Now, American fans will be provided with very similar features. The aim of the latest firmware is to boost social as well as online capabilities of the company's flagship video game console.

PS4 firmware 3.0 beta testing sneak peek was set up to showcase the firmware's performance through Live streaming on YouTube. This feature enables players to live stream their game on YouTube, which allows their friends as well as the worldwide web to watch a player's game live. However, the events feature serves as a display board for a user's most-played games, and it also shows alerts and other activities for the said games.

But one of the most distinguished changes in the latest update is its impressive expansion of the online storage capacity from 1 GB to 10 GB. Furthermore, there will be a meter that enables gamers to monitor capacity usage without difficulty.

PS4 3.0 beta will have all these exceptional additions to an already renowned console. However, John Koller, offers fair warning to all test-drivers as well as those who wants to keep tabs on the beta testing. The VP for Platforms Marketing said, "If you were selected for our beta program, you'll get to see these features first-hand very soon. Keep in mind, some of this content might not make it into the final version - that's why we're having a beta, after all."

PS4 manufacturer Sony is yet to announce an official public release date for the PS 4 firmware 3.0.
