"X-Men: Apocalypse's" daunting villain, Oscar Isaac, has recently shared his experiences and thoughts about the upcoming movie.
"Ex- Machina" actor Isaac, who plays En Sabah Nur in the upcoming movie, described his acting approach as the villain in the "X-Men: Apocalypse" as something similar to a Greek Tragedy or even Kabuki. In an interview with Indiewire, the actor said, "With 'X-Men' it was great because there's an embodiment of such big ideas; you're not working in the realm of naturalism. And just because something's natural doesn't mean that it's interesting - and I think Kubrick knew that very well."
"Sometimes it's fun to push performance into other places that is not just about the same kind of verité thing. You can go to heightened places in a Greek tragedy or the kabuki kind of way. You have these forms that express more than just an individual's personality. And that's been really fun to play with in 'X-Men,' " the actor added.
Isaac, who also appeared in "A Most Violent Year," also gave a hint to the fans that with the "X-Men" franchise, they will be seeing a strangely mythical "Apocalypse" in the film. He also expressed that the "god" playing, molecule controlling, villainous mutant, seems to be more expressive in the movie compared to the villain in print.
Since Isaac's portrayal of "Apocalypse" has made this villain stand out from the other antagonists in the franchise, he is the most powerful one so far faced by the cinematic "X-Men." Other past antagonist characters were Magneto, William Stryker, and even Jean Gray, when she was possessed by the Phoenix Force entity, and they were surpassed by the X-Men, Screenrant reported.
Isaac also said that he thinks about the biblical Apocalypse and Johnny Cash's song "When the Man Comes Around" when he needs to be inspired for the "Apocalypse" character.
"X-Men: Apocalypse" is scheduled for production come Spring of 2015 and will be hitting the cinemas next year, May 27th.
