"Death Note" And "Bakuman" creators Tsugumi Ohba And Takeshi Obata reunite to launch "Platinum End" manga. However, there is no official announcement yet of this new project.
Robot6 reports that Tsugumi Ohba and Takeshi Obata, who had worked together already, are reuniting to work on a new manga entitled "Platinum End.", which is about a human and an angel.
Anime News Network says that the official announcement will be released in Shueisha's Weekly Shonen Jump on Monday. "Platinum End" will be launched on November 4 via Jump SQ , but a special preview will be released first in Weekly Shonen Jump on Oct. 5.
The first team up of Ohba and Obata was in 2003, when the two mangaka had been working on "Death Note." If remembered, this supernatural thriller had been a huge success for the two creators and had become a "worldwide phenomenon, inspiring a hit anime series, three live-action films and a live-action television series; another film is in development" for 2016. As the manga came to an end in 2006, it had already sold over 30 million copies.
In 2008, Tsugumi Ohba and Takeshi Obata had worked another manga, "Bakuman." The manga, whose story was about the "two 9th grader students who wanted to become manga artists," ended in 2012. It sold more than 15 million. Yet "Bakuman" has been adapted into 3 anime series and a live-action film-- which will debut in Japan next week. Additionally, Bakuman will have a conclusive two-chapter prequel that will be released on Monday in Weekly Shonen Jump.
In a separate report, Anime News Network says that "Platinum End" will have a tagline that reads "This is a story of a human and an angel."
