"Resident Evil" fans' anticipation has gone quite high when Masachika Kawata, the series' producer, took the center stage at the recently concluded Tokyo Game Show. Mr. Kawata explained to fans what the "Umbrella Corps" will bring to the direction of the horror series, though none was mentioned about the much awaited "Resident Evil 7."
"Resident Evil" will be turning 20 years old by next year, and the much-anticipated "Resident Evil 7" is yet to be announced. Fans are still expecting that it will be released to coincide with its anniversary. However, Capcom has prepared "Resident Evil: Umbrella Corps."
"I think some people might have been surprised that we came out with a third-person shooter like this. But creating experiences that branch out from the core, mainline franchise has always been part of the Resident Evil series. Of course, if people are looking forward to games that are more back on the main track that we've released so far, we've got stuff in the pipeline in that direction too. We've got a nice selection of experiences that can suit most players," said Kawata, according to IBTimes.
Shooter games are widely popular in Western countries, and Capcom wants a piece of the pie. To keep the core Japanese fans of the series, "Resident Evil: Umbrella Corps" retains the zombie-horror setting of the game, as reported by Express.
"Resident Evil: Umbrella Corps" online-multiplayer game uses a close-quarters battle system, which means that a player can use the humans as a shield. They can also present as an obstacle, especially in tight places.
"Resident Evil: Umbrella Corps" setting for the multiplayer shooting game is said to include environments from the previous games, and areas where biological incidents have happened before. However, some believe the undead population is not in need of more shooter-games.
"Resident Evil: Umbrella Corps" does not have a release date yet, but it is probable to hit the shelves in early 2016.
