‘Krypton’ Update: New Series Set 200 Years Prior to Planet's Destruction; Connected to 'Man of Steel'

"Krypton" series, also dubbed as the Superman prequel, has new updates that were revealed by its Exec. Producer David S. Goyer. In his recent interview, Goyer revealed the setting and what inspired the new series.

Comic Book Resources says that David Goyer has been recently interviewed by Collider. In the said interview, the Exec. Producer of "Krypton" says that this series is still in development.

Report says that the setting of "Krypton" will be "200 years prior" to the destruction of the planet. This means that the time and events of the series is before Kah-El, Superman, was born.

According to David Goyer, he once thought of drawing back the curtains on this Superman prequel series. ""I was so insistent on setting that opening on 'Krypton' and really seeing it, was pulling back the curtain. There were a lot of ideas that I wanted to use in the film that didn't ultimately make it into the film," he said.

According to Movie Pilot, "Krypton" is now included in the new DC universe. So fans are wondering "which movie will it connect to?"

If remembered, "Krypton" series was announced last year, but there was no concrete details of this project. Based on the interview with Goyer, the plot will focus on the culture of Krypton, what it's like to live there before it exploded.

Newsrama on the other hand says that the series will eventually connect to "Man of Steel" movie. This might be the first time that a TV series of DC will be connected to its DC movies. SyFy's "Krypton" series will be a different case as opposed to other DC-based TV series.

Goyer further revealed that in this SyFy's project, "We scratched the surface in the film and, for me, that was the allure." He explained that since he was fascinated with the books about "Krypton" back when he was a kid, he would like to dig out more about it "and learn about its politics, culture, arts and all the different guilds."

In fact, Goyer has named Kryptopolis as its Kryptonian capital in the "Krypton" series.
