"Resident Evil: The Final Chapter," the sixth and supposedly final installment in the "Resident Evil" franchise, will feature both familiar and new faces. Milla Jovovich, who plays the role of Alice, will lead the pack once again. Now recent reports confirmed that South Korean actor Lee Joon-gi has joined the cast, and he is set to play the role of Umbrella Corporation's Commander Lee.
"Resident Evil: The Final Chapter" will serve as Joon-gi's debut film in the Hollywood. The 33-year-old actor is known for starring in several top Korean series, such as "My Girl," "Arang and the Magistrate," "Two Weeks," and "Scholar Who Walks the Night."
Jovovich confirmed the participation of the Korean heartthrob in her latest film. The 39-year-old actress recently took to Instagram to share the news. Posting a photo of herself with Lee, the actress said: "Working for the last few nights with the incredible 3rd Dan Tae Kwon Do master and actor, Joon Gi, has been insanely fun and so inspiring. Makes me want to go back to class and brush up on my martial arts skills!"
"Resident Evil: The Final Chapter" is officially in production, and Jovovich has been giving fans a glimpse of some of the movie's behind the scene shots through Instagram. She also has been teasing her followers with photographs of herself along with her "Resident Evil" co-stars.
The official synopsis of "Resident Evil: The Final Chapter" reveals the new installment will pick up right after the events in the last film, "Resident Evil: Retribution." Alice will return to Raccoon City, where the enemy is preparing to wipe out humanity. Together with her friends and an unlikely accomplice, she will fight the Umbrella Corporation to prevent the total extinction of the human race.
Due to the box office success of "Resident Evil: Retribution," Sony Pictures decided to make one final movie for the hit series. Aside from Jovovich, actors from previous installments will return, including Ali Larter as Claire Redfield, Iain Glen as Dr. Alexander Isaacs, and Shawn Roberts as Albert Wesker. "Orange is the New Black" star Ruby Rose has been tapped to become part of the film as Abigail, and joining her in the cast include Eoin Macken ("The Night Shift") as Doc, William Levy as Christian, Fraser James as Michael, and Japanese fashion model, Rola, as Cobalt.
"Resident Evil: The Final Chapter" is slated to premiere on Jan. 27, 2017.
