Bryan Fuller, who was widely known for his most recent work as the showrunner of NBC's Hannibal, reunites with NBC to revive the Stephen Spielberg's horror anthology series "Amazing Stories" from the 1980s.
Entertainment Weekly first broke the news that the series is now in development at NBC for a modern revival from Fuller. It was reported that he will head as an executive producer and the writer for the pilot episode as well.
The original "Amazing Stories" TV series first ran in 1985 with two seasons. During its run, the series has won five of its 12 Emmy nominations. Famed horror novel and producer Stephen Spielberg was the showrunner and executive producer in the past. However, it is reported that he is not involved in the upcoming reboot, which is a weekly hour-long anthology series.
The "Amazing Stories" TV reboot will have Fuller as an executive producer alongside Justin Falvey and Darryl Frank ("Under The Dome," "Extant") of Amblin TV Entertainment. It will be produced under Universal Television.
Moreover, Fuller will have "Amazing Stories" as his first project with NBC after the critically acclaimed "Hannibal" starring Hugh Dancy and Mads Mikkelsen. The network canceled the 2013 series in June after three seasons.
This is also the latest series that have Fuller as a showrunner. He has also spearheaded the upcoming TV adaptation of Neil Gaiman's fantasy series, "American Gods" on Starz.
The "Amazing Stories" TV reboot will join the current roster of various anthology series we have today. It includes FX's "Fargo," HBO's "True Detective" and the long-running FX horror series "American Horror Story."
Although the upcoming series will have a distinct feature to it, which is similar to the British TV show "Black Mirror," both series follow the traditional format of having different stories every week.
