Emojis Update: Android Users Get Middle Finger Emoji Head Up As Unicode 8.0 Arrives Soon; Upon Release, iOS Will Have Unicode 9.0 Already

Ever wanted emoji to perfectly describe a shitty feeling? The wait is over, the middle finger emoji is about to arrive.

Apple has been known for their emoji. They have been providing users emoji since the first Unicode (1.1) back in 1993. Now in their newest iOS 9.1 update, they featured a new set of emoji from the Unicode update 8.0. It featured new emoji like tacos and unicorns.  Apple has already gotten the Unicode 8.0, Android is still waiting for the 7.0 which features the different skin colors of hands, BGR reported.

Emojis are popularly used by many in their everyday communications instead of using dialogues, causing it to slowly become a cultural norm in communications. This slowly refrains people of actually saying or typing the words which sometimes are hard to understand if the person has no access to such emoji.

Android and Apple users frequently encounter this issue. When an Apple user sends an emoji of a tacs, burritos, unicorns or even the middle finger in different skin colors, the Android user will only get to see an empty box since the user hasn't received the Unicode update yet.

Google's Senior VP for Android has reached this concern and tweeted about the upcoming emoji's for Android. In the tweet, it says that "Hiroshi Lockheimer: 1) Is thankful for the feedback, 2) Is on it, and 3) Is sorry."

iOS and Android users' wait is, however, prolonged as the release date of the emoji for Android is yet to be announced. Thought it would have been nice if the update was included in the Android 6.0 Marshmallow update.

Android users get update slower than Apple users does, it will seem that by the release of the Unicode 9.0 in mid-2016, Android will still be behind, Phandroid reported.
