New comedy series "Life in Pieces" will have full season episodes, which will now total to 22, according to CBS Network. The order was given following a standoff between the show's producer, 20th Century Fox TV and the network over the magnitude of the backorder.
Notably, "Life In Pieces" was not included in the Friday pickup announcement of CBS Network on the full-season order of the newcomer drama "Limitless" as well as the six-script pickup for the series "Code Black." The network tried to consider the idea of reducing this backorder eventually, which was a 20th Century Fox TV issue, Deadline reported. "Life in Pieces" got a steady nine-episode backorder.
In an interview, CBS Entertainment President Glenn Geller said that "Life in Pieces" is sharing some great stories in a very distinct way, having the best set of cast, according to EW. The cast includes James Brolin, Dianne Wiest, Colin Hanks, Zoe Lister-Jones, Thomas Sadoski, Angelique Cabral and Betsy Brandt.
The sitcom, which is expected to be the "Modern Family" successor, is a multi-generational family comedy that got the best comedy slot on a CBS fall schedule, backing the overpowering force of "The Big Bang Theory."
CBS is keeping the series in the post "Big Bang Theory" time slot as TV's leading comedy with a scheduled return on Nov. 5, Thursday.
The show currently ranks as the no. 1 new comedy series for the season, getting mostly positive feedback and a total viewing average of 10.26 million. The full-season order comes directly behind the freshman comedy, as it posts its highest rating for adults with ages ranging from 18 to 49.
Created by Justin Adler, "Life in Pieces" feature co-stars Niall Cunningham, Dan Bakkedahl, Giselle Eisenberg and Holly J. Barrett. The series' executive producers include Justin Adler, Jeff Morton, Aaron Kaplan and Jason Winer.
