Motorola DROID Turbo 2 is comparable with the HTC One M9, but which is better?

Motorola is not making much noise about their smartphones, but the phone make have such huge followers because they consider their smartphones to be one of the best. This year, they have released in the United States their latest handset, dubbed as DROID Turbo 2. Hardware wise, it is closely similar to the HTC One M9.

Motorola DROID Turbo 2, aesthetically speaking, does not have much compared to the HTC One M9. With no metal frame, the back panel is a simple, soft grip material. Frame color can be changed though, via the Moto Maker, but accents are available for the back panel, such as pebbled leather or ballistic nylon.

HTC One M9, on the other hand, has a full aluminum body and its curved corners add sophistication to its looks. Gray, gold, gold and pink combo, as well as silver and gold combo, are the colors that they can be bought in. Both devices do not have a fingerprint scanner.

Motorola DROID Turbo 2 and HTC One M9 devices both come with the latest Snapdragon 810 chipset. It is an octa-core CPU with four cores of Cortex-A53 and four cores of Cortex-A57 clocked at 1.5GHz and 2GHz, respectively. Both devices are also equipped with an Adreno 430 GPU for an additional punch.

DROID Turbo 2's display has a 5.4-inch P-OLED screen, at 1440 x 2560 pixel resolution with a 540 ppi density. It has also incorporated the Shatter Shield technology, which makes it crack-proof. On the other hand, the One M9 has a slightly smaller LCD3 screen that measures 5 inches, and offers a 1080 x 1920 pixel resolution and a density of 441 pixels per inch. The Corning Gorilla Glass 4 protects it.

A 21-megapixel camera is loaded on the DROID Turbo 2, while a slightly lower 20-megapixel comes with the M9, DxOMark reported.

Motorola DROID Turbo 2 and HTC One M9 memories have 3GB on-board RAM, Droid Life reported. The Motorola unit can be upgraded up to 2TB of external storage, while the HTC unit only supports up to 128GB.

HTC One M9 is cheaper at $199, but it comes with a two year contract, while the DROID Turbo 2 costs $634, unlocked.
