"League of Legends" is rumored to be getting a major overhaul soon.
"League of Legends" is a multiplayer online battle arena first introduced in 2009 by developer Riot Games. It is a game played between a two teams with five players each. Recognized globally, it is one of the games played in e-sports. And just recently, all-Korean team SK Telecom T1 emerged as the champion in League of Legends 2015 World Championship.
And for the first time in six year, the MOBA is getting its first major update. As Riot Games has written in the website, "The current League of Legends client has been your companion for the past six years, but it's in sore need of an upgrade. We've been working hard to make that happen, and beginning during the 2016 Season we'll invite community members to test and give feedback on a work-in-progress alpha version of the updated client. We have a limited number of slots open in the alpha client construction crew, but we'll make room for as many folks as we can."
So what can fans expect from this update? Since it is a major update, it looks like riot games is changing almost everything that a LOL player has gotten used to for six years. For example, in selecting champions, after the update players will be choosing characters one at a time and everyone has to lock their champion during the "ban and pick" phase or risk being cast back to queue.
Another example of the changes that will be applied is that matchmaking time for players with higher levels will be shorter. According to Polygon, parties playing collaboratively will not be penalized for ranking together and rather will receive a bonus. In addition, there will be more random items to be dropped after a victorious game. Last but not the least, Riot Games is said to be adding social features that can easily be accessed without the need to launch the game.
Those are just some of the changes that will be happening to "League of Legends" in 2016. More details can be found in the official "League of Legends" website not to mention the upcoming alpha to be conducted with selected players.
