In "Gotham" season 2, episode 9 titled, "A Bitter Pill to Swallow," the spotlight is on Jim Gordon who faces off with a hitman, while two of the would-be villains, Nygma and Penguin, join forces.
The upcoming episode will see Gordon (Ben McKenzie) and Nathaniel Barnes (Michale Chiklis) of the GCPD continue to round up the most evil villains of Gotham City, according to Comic Book. In their war to obtain peace, Gordon comes face to face with Eduardo Flamingo (Raul Castillo), one of the most frightening hitmen. During their confrontation, Gordon almost loses all his wits and is close to killing Flamingo.
For a good guy like Jim Gordon, it would seem like he is also struggling to control the evil inside him. However, Barnes reassures him that the only line detaching men from animals is the law.
Meanwhile, Nygma (Cory Michael Smith) and Penguin (Robin Lord Taylor), two of the fiercest villains of Batman, join forces at last. The two crossed paths in episode 8 when Nygma accidentally found a wounded Penguin hiding after a confrontation with Theo Galavan (James Frain).
In the video preview for episode 9, it seems that Nygma will take Penguin under his wing until he gets better. However, since Nygma is not yet a full-blown villain, Penguin could fashion him out to become a relentless monster. This relationship will be like a master-apprentice one and Nygma is set and ready to learn the tricks of the trade.
Bruce Wayne (David Mazouz) continues his hunt for the person who killed his parents. Since Theo is the key to finding the murderer, Bruce will keep on pressuring him to divulge the truth in "A Bitter Pill to Swallow."
Guest stars for "Gotham" season 2, episode 9 include Michelle Gomez as Lady, Ron Rifkin as Father Creel, Natalie Alyn Lind as Silver St. Cloud, and Jon Sklaroff as Billy Boy.
