The Librarians were back for another mission in the fourth episode of "The Librarians" Season 2 titled "And the Cost of Education" and they were up against a tentacled monster which feeds on ego and pride. Here's a quick rundown of what happened.
Eve, Ezekiel, Jake and Cassandra had a school trip when a mascot of Wexler University had gone missing. Jake met the architect professor and he said he is a big fan of him, until they got into an argument about the existence of magic. They figured what took the mascot when a tentacle of a monster popped through a dimensional rift and took the professor. It takes people who publicly display ego and pride.
Cassandra met Lucy, who turned out to be responsible in summoning the magic, albeit accidentally, when she created a particle accelerator. Because she felt responsible, Lucy insisted on fixing things, saying she can do it and so on until she attracted the monster and she was grabbed into the other realm as well.
Cassandra felt responsible for Lucy and she wanted to bring her back by getting into the other dimension. Eve did not agree with it, but Cassandra insisted she was making the call this time. Jake and Ezekiel worked together on keeping the rift open by driving around the campus in a golf cart while Ezekiel talked about how awesome he is.
Cassandra found Lucy, but unfortunately the professor and the mascot were already gone, eaten by the monster most likely. Lucy got back to the real world first and Cassandra was left behind when the monster caught up with them. But before the monster could get her, she was saved by the Lake. The Lake, who understands magic and science, offered Cassandra a spot in their group. Cassandra decided to stay with the Library. And so they were able to close the rift.
