"NCIS" Episode 9 of Season 13 is titled "Day in Court" which finds Gibbs and the rest of the team trying to prove the innocence of a navy man. Jake Malloy also finds himself in hot water with Ellie Bishop over his not so innocent lies.
'NCIS" season 13 is nine episodes in and the last one is called "Day in Court." According to Entertainment Weekly, the episode revolves around murder and proving the innocence of a man accused of being responsible for the heinous act. Petty Officer Third Class Kyle Friedgen has been charged with murder for the death of his ex-girlfriend. But for some technicalities, the case is dismissed which should make Friedgen happy, except for the fact that the opposite happened.
Everybody involved in the case thought he was guilty and convinced that he would get the max sentence. Instead, he is released and his "hell" began. Co-workers harassed him and his wife left him despite being pregnant with their child. It was then that Friedgen decided to seek help from NCIS; a court martial will re-open his case and give him the chance to prove his innocence. The team goes to work to find evidence about Friedgen's claim that his ex-girlfriend Joy Vanatter is involved in prostitution and drugs.
They later discover that the evidence for Friedgen's case was tampered with by the prosecutor himself and they establish his link to the murder. Apparently, the prosecutor used Vanatter's services in exchange for drugs and he did not want the poor girl spilling the beans on his dirty little secret.
Meanwhile, in a post by TV Fanatic, the episode also turns ugly for Ellie Bishop who finds out that husband Jake Malloy is having an affair. She earlier thought that Malloy is just having trouble in his work for the NSA but ultimately Bishop finds out and decides to leave him. Before that though, the boys of NCIS gallantly defended their own when Malloy went to his wife's workplace to confront her.
