‘Vikings' Season 4 Spoilers: What Happens After King Ragnar Leaves? Time Jump Set in Motion to Make Up for Travis Fimmel's Exit?

"Vikings" season 4 is about to start on History Channel and spoilers keep on surfacing online. With the impending departure of Travis Fimmel from the show, his character King Ragnar Lothbrok hangs in the balance. However, recent reports suggested that a substantial time jump would occur to make up for the lead actor's exit.

The finale of "Vikings" season 3 showed Ragnar faking his death to find out who he could really trust. Although the character has risen from the dead, Ragnar may soon face real death considering Travis Fimmel's announcement that he will be leaving the show.

According to Master Herald, the production is not keen on finding a replacement for the 36-year-old Australian actor for fear of losing fans of the show. They are now thinking of just killing off Ragnar's character instead.

Michael Hirst, the producer of the show, hinted in an interview that Ragnar is very ill and drifting between life and death. The "Vikings" producer also mentioned that Ragnar's sons are already eligible enough to succeed their father's throne.

With a very likely Ragnar death, his son Bjorn Ironside (Alexander Ludwig) may be taking his father's place. Ludwig has recently posted a picture of him sporting a gray beard. The photo sparked a rumor that the show will have a significant time jump after Ragnar's death with Bjorn leading the helm.

Meanwhile, as one character is exiting, a few actors have been cast for new roles. Peter Franzen, Jasper Paakkonen and Dianne Doan will be joining the world of the Vikings in season 4. Franzen will be playing King Harald Finehair of Scandinavia. It has been speculated that the character will be an opposition to Ragnar's kingdom. Doan will be a Chinese character named Yidu, who is said to be playing a vital role in the upcoming season. On the other hand, Paakkonen will be giving life to the role of Harald's brother, Halfdan the Black.

"Vikings" season 4 will start airing in 2016.
