Marvel's "Agent Carter" season 2 was initially set to start on Jan. 5, 2016. However, ABC recently released a statement informing viewers that the show will not be able to air its premiere episode as scheduled.
In a statement released via Twitter, the ABC network announced the delay of the airing of Marvel's "Agent Carter" season 2. The two-hour premiere of the TV series will be taking a backseat to make way for the State of the Union Address by President Barack Obama, reported TV.
President Obama's speech will be aired on Jan. 12, but instead of airing "Marvel's Agent Carter" season 2, episode 1 on schedule, the network decided to delay the premiere for two weeks. The decision was due to the network's desire to not lose momentum once the season starts. ABC wants the series to go on air uninterrupted. On the other hand, Marvel's "Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D." season 2 will start on Jan. 19 at 9PM ET.
While some fans are put off by the announcement, others believe the rescheduling makes sense as a lot of viewers are not in favor of interrupted showing. There are no other details on how the delay of "Agent Carter" season 2 will affect the "Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D" midseason premiere, though.
ABC could possibly delay the second-half of Marvel's "Agent of S.H.I.E.L.D." or it could just release some two-hour episodes to prevent further delays.
Marvel's "Agent Carter" season 2 will continue the story of Peggy Carter (Hayley Atwell) in post-World War II United States. During season 1, Peggy worked through the streets of New York. According to TV Series Finale, the agent will leave the Big Apple in season 2 to work on an assignment in Los Angeles. Based on the teaser, it will be Peggy's most dangerous assignment yet.
Marvel's "Agent Carter" includes other characters in the MCU like Edwin Jarvis, Chief Daniel Sousa, Whitney Frost, Jason Wilkes and Chief Jack Thompson.
