'Wolf Man' Movie: Universal Monster Remake To Be Released in 2018

Universal Pictures is revamping the shared monster universe by giving a release date for the new "Wolf Man."

Jo Blo exclusively reported that Universal Pictures scheduled the release of the movie reboot on March 30, 2018. The "Wolf Man" reboot will be written by Aaron Guzikowski ("Prisoners"). The story follows a young man who turns into a werewolf after being bitten in the past.

The new "Wolf Man" will be based on the 1941 film of the same name. It stars Lon Chaney, Claude Rains, Ralph Bellamy, Patric Knowles and Béla Lugosi. "Sin City" actor Benicio del Toro starred in the latest remake in 2010.

Guzikowski was famed for writing the script for the movie "Prisoners" starring Hugh Jackman and Jake Gyllenhaal. Aside from working on the "Wolf Man" reboot, it was said that The Black List winner is in negotiations to write the "Friday The 13th" sequel.

It was also said that there has been no other updates about the "Wolf Man" movie aside the slated release date.

Screen Crush, on the other hand, elaborated that the studio will continue further in expanding its monster universe with various remakes of the classic movie monsters similar to the successful box-office and TV run of the Marvel Cinematic Universe.

The "Universal Monster" franchise is developed under the leadership of producer/writer Alex Kurtzman ("Transformers," "Star Trek") and Chris Morgan ("Fast and Furious").

The "Wolf Man" will be the studio's follow-up film after the planned "The Mummy" reboot from Kurtzman and writer John Spaihts ("Prometheus"). The project has "Mission Impossible" star Tom Cruise attached as a potential lead actor.

Universal Pictures got few slow paced performances from the first two Monster Universe flicks, "Dracula Untold" and "I, Frankenstein." However, it did not stop the production company in concocting new reboots.

The outlet said that the lineup of new movie projects includes "Creature From Black Lagoon," and "Van Helsing."
