The "Street Fighter" franchise is again expanding its brand as "Street Fighter: Resurrection" makes its debut next year.
American gaming and media streaming website, Machinima in partnership with Capcom, has announced in a press release that a special mini-series titled "Street Fighter: Resurrection" will debut next year, according to Polygon. The five-episode series will be streamed exclusively on social platform go90, which is the first time for Machinima. Ken and Ryu are said to make featured appearance but the center stage will be for their popular contender.
The said contender will be none other than Charlie Nash. Nash will be played by Canadian Alain Mousi whose work includes being a stunt double in films like "Suicide Squad" and "X-Men: Days of Future Past."
"Street Fighter: Resurrection" will follow Nash's story that is set 10 years after Machinima's version of "Street Fighter: Assassin's Fist." The plot will revolve around Nash targeting street fighter champions while Ryu and Ken try to stop him. According to Bleeding Cool, producers Jacqueline Quella and Mark Wooding, and writer/director Joey Ansah ("The Bourne Ultimatum") will be behind this upcoming mini-series. They are the same creative team behind "Street Fighter: Assassin's Fist." Mike Moh and Christian Howard will reprise their roles as Ryu and Ken, respectively.
Originally "World Warrior," that was announced earlier, would have followed after the success of "Assassin's Fists." But, instead "Street Fighter: Resurrection" will take its place and, according to Polygon, will set the stage for the franchise's latest video game title, "Street Fighter V." While the five-episode mini-series debut is on March 16, the video game will be released a few weeks earlier. The game will be launched on Feb. 16 on PlayStation 4. A PC version is said to follow at a later date. No other details have been provided for "World Warrior."
