Blizzard Entertainment's upcoming multiplayer "Overwatch" will receive new heroes and maps for free.
According to Polygon, "Overwatch" Game Director Jeff Kaplan announced the company's post launch plans for additional content in a video created to address community inquiries. Although a timeframe for the arrival of those heroes has not yet been set, Kaplan said, "When we patch a new hero into the game, we want it to be free and not as DLC."
A month earlier, Polygon has ran a report that mentioned "Overwatch" won't be a free-to-play game. Back then when Kaplan was asked about their plans for the said game he said, "It's not one of those things where we know exactly what we're going to do and we're waiting to spring it on you. We're reading all the feedback right now and taking it into account."
This latest update surely is good news for the community. Kaplan has also said in the video that the feedback is from the players who participated in "Overwatch's" closed beta which began on Oct. 27. The online competitive shooter from Blizzard Entertainment, "Overwatch," was announced during last year's BlizzCon convention. Since then fans did not know much about the said game until the closed beta began. And with the feedback from those who participated, Kaplan's team has arrived with the recent announcement stated above.
The beta is still ongoing but it will be taking a holiday break. As stated in battle.net, Blizzard says, "We will be bringing the Overwatch Closed Beta offline for an extended break beginning on Thursday, December 10 at 9:00 a.m. PST. During this downtime, we're looking forward to making more improvements to the game, as well as continuing to work on in-development features like spectating and progression."
"As we mentioned, this break is only temporary, and we're excited to bring the Closed Beta back online sometime in mid-to-late January. We'll share more details about this next phase of testing in the new year, so stay tuned!"
"Overwatch" is expected to be released sometime in Spring of 2016. In the meantime, you can watch the video below:
