"Outlander" stars Sam Heughan and Caitriona Balfe were recently mobbed by fans as they were in the middle of filming for season 2 in Scotland. Scotsman reports that the "Outlander" cast and crew are currently in Scotland, particularly in Kilmarnock, East Ayrshire, for some castle scenes.
Despite the security team of the film crew, several lucky fans managed to sneak in at the Dean Castle and snapped photos of the shoot. Heughan and Balfe were spotted in characters as Jamie Fraser and Claire Randall, wearing their 18th century attire and riding horses.
Based on the pictures fans shared on social media, it looks like the "Outlander" has a happy, easy-going vibe. It was a wet and rainy day on the set, but Heughan was seen smiling in between takes while carrying an umbrella.
Later, he gamely posed with fans despite the bad weather and filiming hassles.
Likewise, Balfe also took the time to pose for fans. In one particular photo, the actress was seen goofing for the camera while waiting for her cue.
Later, she also stood for a selfie beside a fan, who was obviously delighted.
Pictures of the set were also shared on Instagram, showing the scenic view of Scotland. Props such as wooden tables, wagons, and barrels were also visible around the Dean Castle.
"Outlander" is produced by Starz, and is based on Diana Gabaldon's bestselling novels about Jamie and Claire, the star-crossed lovers coming from different eras. Season 1 was a surprising hit internationally, and fans obviously couldn't wait for season 2.
The series is set on medieval Scotland, and uses authentic Scotland locations in filming. As previously reported, the show's cult following has dramatically boosted tourism in the country.
"Outlander fans everywhere are breathing a collective sigh of relief that the end of Droughtlander is drawing near as the cast and crew get ready to film the final two episodes in Scotland," one fan reportedly wrote on the Outlander Crew blog.
"Outlander" Season 2 is premieres in Spring 2016.
