"Outlander" Season 2 is expected to premiere in spring of 2016, which is almost a year since the first season concluded with a heartbreaking episode titled "To Ransom A Man's Soul." The upcoming season of the Starz time traveler series will see the continuation of events from its first season, which will show Jamie Fraser (Sam Heughan) and Claire Randall (Caitriona Balfe) travel all the way to France to stop the Jacobite rising.
In an interview with the Scotsman, author Diana Gabaldon explained the reason for the delay in the release date of "Outlander" Season 2. According to her, every episode "literally takes four weeks of filming and another four weeks of post-production."
The "Outlander" author further expressed optimism on the show's future on the network.
"I think they will keep making it as long as people keep watching it," she said.
The cast and crew also had to change several things for "Outlander" Season 2, including costumes and filming locations. Balfe told Blastr that she and the rest of the cast "felt a little bit of discomfort in the transition, because we were so used to playing in this gritty Scottish mud."
Heughan, on the other hand, shared that Jamie will try to put on a brave front, as he and Claire try to change the course of history. However, Heughan admitted that while Jamie can be a "good businessman and very charming, but in those late nights with Claire we see the mask come off," as Jamie continues to struggle with the trauma he received from Black Jack Randall (Tobias Menzies) in Wentworth Prison.
