Kate Gosselin returned to television with the premiere of "Kate Plus 8" Season 4 last Tuesday, Dec. 8. With her life back on the spotlight, controversies are sure to follow. Radar Online reported that author Robert Hoffman has rereleased a book entitled "Kate Gosselin: How She Fooled the World," revealing shocking details about the reality star's life behind the cameras.
The book includes excerpts from Gosselin's secret journals between 2006 and 2007. In one entry, the mother of eight admitted to being "too rough" with her then 2-year-old son Collin.
"I am too rough with him and the girls see that-- I feel so guilty that I treated him like that that I will set out tomorrow to be a better mommy," she reportedly wrote.
However, the days did not seem to improve for Gosselin as she narrated other violent outbursts, and it seems like no kid was spared.
"The poor little thing was shaking with coldness or fear," she wrote on Oct. 20, 2006, about shouting at 2-year-old Leah and throwing her in the bath.
On Jan. 2, 2007, Collin threw a temper tantrum which Gosselin responded with spanking and whipping.
"[I] grabbed him and spanked him as hard as I could and thought I may seriously injure him so I sent him to his crib.... And whipped him into it very hard!" she shockingly admitted.
Meanwhile, another entry confirmed that Gosselin is faking part of her reality show for the sake of production.
On Sept. 12, 2006, she wrote about Mady and Cara's first day of kindergarten, "[A producer] wants to film Friday as if it were the first day of school." However, two weeks earlier, she wrote about the twins' actual first day of school.
Gosselin has not commented on these controversies. In the pilot episode of "Kate Plus 8" Season 4, she was shown showing off her toned bikini bod while vacationing with her brood as a single parent. According to TV By the Numbers, the episode suffered a major rating flop. It premiered to 955,000 viewers, nearly a million less than last season's pilot.
"Kate Plus 8" airs every Tuesday, 9 p.m. on TLC.
