"Star Wars: The Force Awakens" stars John Boyega, Adam Driver and Daisy Ridley, along with Director JJ Adams, went to Seoul, South Korea to promote the upcoming film. They met with the country's popular group EXO, the artist behind the theme song "Lightsaber" for the Korean version of the "Star Wars" film.
According to China Topix, "Star Wars" cast and some EXO members Chanyeol, Sehun and Suho, met at a fan meeting held in Seoul. After the event, Boyega posted some remarks on his Twitter with regards to meeting the K-pop group. Boyega wrote, "Lord. Thinking to audition for EXO so I can join them and have an excuse to stay in Seoul."
He later added, "Actually I'll leave EXO alone they don't need me stumbling around while they glide on the screams of their hardcore fans."
Koreaboo reported that EXO-Ls took John's comments as something against their idol and tensions built over social media. "Star Wars" fans, on one hand, were outraged when the MC asked the cast what is dubbed as "stupid question" - "Do you know EXO?"
Koreaboo said officials of the event clarified, "John Boyega's SNS could be taken as a negative statement but he was extremely happy with the events in Korea. He was amazed by EXO's popularity and his expression of that surprise was simply mistaken via his tweets. If there was any problem with the event that is on us the staff of the event. I hope fans are not too angry with what has happened."
Meanwhile, SM Entertainment recently confirmed that EXO is coming to North America in 2016. The all-time favorite boy group will perform first in New York City on Feb. 5, then in Chicago on Feb. 7. They will head in Dallas on Feb. 10 and in Vancouver on Feb. 12. The last show will be on Feb. 14 in Los Angeles.
"Star Wars: The Force Awakens" will hit the theaters in South Korea on Dec. 17.
