'General Hospital' Cast & Updates: Billy Miller Stays as Jason Morgan, Fox's 'Urban Cowboy' Cancelled

"General Hospital" fans have something to rejoice about. Actor Billy Miller got fans worried that he might be exiting from the soap since he landed a more high profile and profitable gig in a primetime series. But, it looks like the actor may be staying in the soap opera for an extended period of time after all.

Miller was supposed to be ditching "GH" for "Urban Cowboy," a new primetime series on FOX. Sadly, the new show has been shot down before it even aired.

"Urban Cowboy" was supposedly a reboot of the 1980 film starring John Travolta. The story is a "country drama" about two star-crossed lovers who pursue their dreams through oil refineries and the glamour of modern Texas.

"It's about family legacies, starting over, finding true love, and the American dream," the plot summary reads.

According to Deadline, the upcoming series' cast and crew have finished filming the pilot episode. However, FOX has opted not to go forward with the show after executives saw the final output. The pilot episode reportedly needed major writing revisions and additional scenes that the network has decided it would be best if they just cancelled it altogether.

According to Celeb Dirty Laundry, FOX conducted multiple surveys from potential viewers and realized right away that the show will be a "ratings disaster." Miller was supposed to play the part of "Bobby," one of the supporting characters.

Reportedly, the 36-year-old actor previously jumped from another soap opera, "The Young and The Restless," in the hopes of landing a primetime gig in the future. Now that "Urban Cowboy" is off the table, "GH" fans can be assured that Miller will not be leaving the show and will continue playing his role as Jason Morgan.

"General Hospital" airs Mondays to Fridays, 1:30 p.m. on ABC.
