Not Happy With iOS 9.2? Downgrade Your iPhone, iPad or iPod to iOS 9.1 While You Can

Apple just released the latest version of its iOS last week, but there are still issues the users are reportedly experiencing. If you are one of them or you're simply not that happy with iOS 9.2, you can downgrade to iOS 9.1 version.

GottaBeMobile noted that Apple keeps signing older iOS versions for only a few more weeks after the latest OS has been released, so downgrade while you can. Apple doesn't usually allow users to downgrade their iPhone, iPad and iPod to older versions.

Here's how to downgrade from iOS 9.2 to iOS 9.1:

1. Back up your device data and settings so you don't lose them when you downgrade. There are two ways to back up. First is via transferring them to your computer. Plug in your device to a computer, open iTunes, and click Back Up Now on the device page. The second option is via iCloud. Go to Settings, iCloud, and tap the toggle button to turn on Backup. Ensure that you have enough space for all your data. Apple provides 5GB of free storage only.

2. Download the iOS 9.1 IPWS file that corresponds to your device model. The file size is more or less 2 GB and may take a couple of minutes to download.

3. Plug in your iPhone to your computer, open iTunes, and go to the device page. Press Option/Alt on your keyboard (for Mac OS X) or Shift key (for Windows), then at the same time click Restore iPhone.

4. When the explorer box popped up, select the iOS 9.1 IPWS file you've downloaded then click Open to start the installation process.

5. When iOS 9.1 has been installed, iTunes will prompt you to restore backup. Click Yes to have your data and settings back. You can also opt to set your iPhone, iPad and iPod as a new device.
