Almost seven years after the airing of its fourth season, "Prison Break" is coming back for a new season, and details about the plot and cast are being revealed as early as now.
"Prison Break" Season 4 ended in May 2009 but the production will not let the series die just yet. FOX has picked up the show again for an initial 10-episode season.
Lincoln Burrows (Dominic Purcell) will be back on "Prison Break" season 5 but he is not the only one. It would seem that his brother, Michael Scofield (Wentworth Miller) is coming back as well after he died during the series' finale in 2009, a previous report stated.
With Michael's return comes the confirmation that the new season will be a sequel set years after the series ended. This only means that Michael is indeed alive. According to Starpulse, FOX CEOs Gary Newman and Dana Walden revealed that Michael did not die but faked his death. The show's creator was able to write a script revolving around the reason behind this pretense and the two CEOs said that this plot will be well-liked by fans.
With this new plot detail revealed, many are speculating that another death-inducing family problem will cause Michael to come out from hiding. On the other hand, Michael faking his death might cause problems for his family so to save them from harm, he would have to rise from the dead.
Meanwhile, no other cast members from the previous seasons of "Prison Break" has confirmed their attachment to season 5 apart from Miller and Purcell. There is a big chance though for Robert Knepper, who played T-Bag, and William Fichtner, who played Alexander Mahone, to join the Season 5 cast.
As for Sarah Wayne Callies, who played Michael's wife Sara, the actress just said that no one from the "Prison Break" team has approached her yet. But the 38-year-old actress said she would be delighted to continue the story with the cast if her "Colony" bosses would allow her to do another series.
"Prison Break" season 5 is set to start airing on March, 2016 on FOX.
