"Penny Dreadful" season 3 will soon be back on Showtime and the TV series is adding up new characters to join Penny and her gang.
Although there is not an exact date yet as to when "Penny Dreadful" season 3 premiere will be, some spoilers and cast additions have already hit online websites. A recent picture released by the series' production shows Vanessa Ives (Eva Green) in a padded-white wall, wearing a straitjacket and being consoled by an old woman.
The old woman in the picture is Dr. Seward, played by Tony Award winner Patti LuPone. Dr. Seward should not be mistaken for the Cut-Wife, also played by LuPone, who appeared in season 2. The Tony winner will be a series regular in "Penny Dreadful" season 3, according to Christian Post.
With the inclusion of Dr. Seward's character, many fans are speculating that Dracula might appear as well. This is due to the fact that the doctor first appeared in the novel "Dracula" by Bram Stoker. In the story, she administers an insane asylum close to Count Dracula's lair and apparently in "Penny Dreadful," Dr. Seward's character is taken straight out of the novel.
Although Dracula's appearance is still considered as a rumor, there are a few more characters confirmed to join "Penny Dreadful" season 3. One famous character appearing in the show is Dr. Henry Jekyll, who will be played by Shazad Latif from "The Second Best Exotic Marigold Hotel." Although Latif is just listed as a guest star, Jekyll might still become a regular if his guesting will be received well by viewers.
A mysterious Native American named Kaetenay (Wes Studi) is another addition to the cast. Kaetenay will be an ally of Sir Malcolm Murray (Timothy Dalton) and is said to have a curious connection with Ethan Chandler (Josh Hartnett).
The filming of "Penny Dreadful" season 3 is currently ongoing in the United Kingdom and airing will start sometime in 2016.
