‘Game of Thrones’ Kit Harington: Taking Photos Without Permission Is an Invasion of Privacy

Kit Harington doesn't want his pictures taken without his consent. The "Game of Thrones" actor feels like his privacy is being invaded when people reach for their cameras and snap photos of him unknowingly.

Harington played the part of Jon Snow in the hit HBO series "Game of Thrones," for those who still don't know his character (which is unlikely). Jon Snow is Lord Stark's bastard son who joined the Night's Watch and was betrayed and stabbed at the season finale of season 5.

Vulture had an opportunity to interview the star, who shared to them about his feelings towards stolen shots.

"It's one thing to ask someone for a photo, and give them the chance to say yes or no, and hopefully they say yes," he said. "But to take photos of me, without permission, it is an invasion of privacy. I do call people out on that. Most of the time, it's just people maybe getting overly excited that they've seen someone they recognize, and it's completely innocent. "

He went on telling the reporters that he hopes people will develop "new etiquette rules" in using technology. "I don't believe people need to be ashamed about these things, they just need to stop and take stock of what they're photographing. Is it an actor, musician, or just someone on the street who's acting oddly? There's a feeling that you should know, that you should be empathic to how it feels to other people to be watched or photographed. If you wouldn't like it yourself, then don't do it or other people."

"Be more polite, generally. Because I can tell you, it's very uncomfortable being photographed all the time without permission. So I would ask people not to do that ... to anyone." Harington added, having the conviction that if someone is not in his character and strolls around the city, people should leave them be and let them enjoy their personal time. To disturb their time to have pictures with them, one can simply ask for permission, he said.

Harington's recent appearance was in "MI-5," an action-drama-thriller that was released earlier this month.

In January,
GQ got ahold of Harington who talked about his desire to keep his personal life private. "I'll never talk about any particular relationship I've been in," he said. The actor also maintained that he has no social media accounts at all.
