‘Once Upon a Time’ Season 5B Spoilers: Good Emma Is Back But So Are the Dead; Why Are the Old Characters Appearing?

After the "Once Upon a Time" mid-season finale, Dark Emma has gone back to her old self but it seems like it is not just her good side that is coming back.

In the second half of "Once Upon a Time" season 5, Emma (Jennifer Morrison) will be back to her old self of being a hero after she was freed from the darkness that engulfed her during the first half of the season. Emma is back to Savior duties just as she was before she became a Dark One, Christian Today wrote.

Jennifer Morrison, who plays Emma, said, "Her savior magic is intact. There is a mention that in the initial arrival in the underworld, anyone who's dealing with magic is shaken a little bit, but Emma sinks into hers pretty quick. So she's back into true savior Emma form in terms of magic pretty quickly."

However, although the good side of Emma is back in "Once Upon a Time" season 5B, some of the nastiest characters will be back as well. A previous report mentioned that Regina's (Lana Parrilla) evil mother, Cora (Barbara Hershey), and Mr. Gold's (Robert Carlyle) father, Pan (Robbie Kay) will be appearing in the Underworld, probably as spirits.

It is still unclear what exactly their appearance will mean in their children's lives but meeting them could either end up good or bad. Since these two dead characters are not exactly known for their saintly deeds, they could further add up to the evil residing in their children's hearts.

For Gold, it is almost a given that he will not be turning away from his monstrous ways anytime soon and it will be unlikely for Pan to talk his son out from creating more evil, therefore there is not much plot to go on from there. Or maybe, the creators could just surprise viewers making the father and son meet-up a way for Gold to realize he does not want to end up like his young bad father.

With Regina, on the other hand, Cora might just tempt her some more to abandon her newfound good side and become evil once again. Whatever Regina decides, fans of the series may very well see the two arguing and talking about Zelena (Rebecca Madder), the former's half-sister.

Catch "Once Upon a Time" season 5B when it premieres in spring in 2016 on ABC.
