'Call the Midwife' Season 5 Spoilers: Christmas Special Features Sadness, Holiday Magic, Happiness Come Dec. 25; Season 6 Confirmed

"Call the Midwife" is a popular British period drama loved by everyone. Fans of the said drama will end the year on a high note as its Christmas special will be aired in just a couple of days. Another great news is that the show has already picked up for season six.

The "Call the Midwife" Christmas special has been a tradition already. The show has always aired its Christmas special since its inception and it continues this year. BBC posted a synopsis, which gave hints that the people of Poplar are thrilled and excited for Christmas. According to the synopsis, despite the unfortunate events that happened, the mourning mother feels the spirit of Christmas, thanks to the wonderful surprise. Meanwhile, one of the houses of Nonnatus might be in great trouble because of the disappearance of Sister Monica.

While the trailer for the special Christmas episode reflects the holiday's magic, it also gives the audience a glimpse of sadness. The clip begins with an ordinary scene in the street where people are getting ready for the Yuletide season and the women of Nonnatus who are dealing with their jobs and other upcoming activities.

In "Call the Midwife" Christmas episode, there are also a couple of happy scenes with Santa Claus, boy scouts singing their hearts out, and baby being born according to Ecunemical News. However, there are also some sad scenes, which include a man walking away from the sea and a lady slowly trudging along the way. The clip ends with nuns and midwives of the Nonnatus House standing in front of the people in the church, preparing to sing.

Pippa Harris, the showrunner of the series said that she was very delighted that BBC had already commissioned season six even before the fifth season went on air.

"Call the Midwife" Christmas special will be airing on Dec. 25 on BBC 1 and the fifth season is expected to be released in United States on April 3, 2016 on PBS.
