People have been wanting to know when the first "Call of Duty: Black Ops 3's" Map DLC will be released Now that the first of the four upcoming Map DLCs already has a name, an official release date has been revealed along with a trailer.
It was previously reported that "The Awakening DLC", the first of the four map packs in the "Call of Duty: Black Ops 3's" Seasonal Pass, was announced at the 2015 PlayStation Experience. The tentative release dates were also announced with "The Awakening DLC" expected to release on January 26, 2016, DLC Map Pack 2 on March 29, 2016, DLC Map Pack 3 on May 31, 2016 and DLC Map Pack 4 on August 2, 2016. As stated, those dates may be tentative but Sony guarantees that the PlayStation 4 will received the DLC packs ahead of Xbox One or PC.
According to the newly release trailer for "The Awakening DLC", the official release date on the PlayStation 4 is Feb. 2, 2016. You see the video for yourself below. The trailer offers a peak into the four maps from the first DLC map pack.
"Since 'Black Ops 3' launched last month, the response from our community has been incredible in every way," Design and Trend quotes what Treyarch Studio Head Mark Lamia has said. "With Awakening, the studio is focused on creating a wide variety of gameplay experience for our fans in multiplayer and zombies that will keep players coming back for more."
As featured in the video, the four new multiplayer maps will be Gauntlet, Splash, Rise and Skyjacked. Multiplayer Game Director Dan Bunting says on the video, "Awakening DLC for the multiplayer fans is going to be all about the maps. Every map is going to feel distinct and unique from the other maps."
And indeed the four maps are distinct from one another. Gauntlet is set in a military training facility with three environments, a jungle environment, artic climate and rainy city scene. Splash is set in an abandon water park that is a new twist to the "Call of Duty: Black Ops 3" gameplay. Rise is set in a construction facility and feels like the most classic multiplayer map of all the maps. Last but not the least is Skyjacked. Skyjacked is a different take of the original map. The "The Awakening DLC" will bring along "Der Eisendrache," the first to chapter of the Zombies DLC story of "Call of Duty: Black Ops 3" and set is a medieval castle or environment.
"Call of Duty: Black Ops 3" is available on PlayStation 4, Xbox One and PC. "The Awakening DLC" will automatically unlock for those who purchased the Season Pass on February 2.
