“Outlander” Season 2 recently released a new photo showing the costume of lead stars Jamie and Claire. Meanwhile, actor Sam Heughan revealed that the filming of the show is almost over.
Season 2 will pick up where Season 1 left off wherein Jamie Fraser (Sam Heughan) and Claire Randall (Catriona Balfe) will go to France to infiltrate the French society and stop the Battle of Culloden since Claire knew this would be extremely deadly.
A new image showcased the couple's costume in a French Court setting. The two are wearing elegant clothing that is different to that of the first season which was set in Scotland.
“It’s a massive season. We figured out recently that we’ve made over 10,000 items for season 2 and acquired another 5,000 shoes. Knowing that was in front of us … it was a monumental task. We started thinking about it halfway through season 1," Outlander costume designer Terry Dresbach said according to Entertainment Weekly.
"It’s a completely different kind of clothing. In Scotland, there is not a ton of research out there about what they wore. It was a rough place. But France [in the 18th century] was one of the most well-documented periods of fashion in the world, so you better get it right. There is no wiggle room. Everything has to be sumptuous and lavish and every inch is beaded and embroidered. This is why I came back into the business to do this show. Getting to do 18th century French court is a designer’s dream. It’s fabulous,” Dresbach continued.
The costume is indeed different since instead of tartans, the couple is wearing silk clothing because of the new location. It is just right for the two to be wearing the said costumes since they will be contending with the French aristocracy. Their outfits is also based on the year 1740 ad 1960 where the Outlander series written by Gabaldon, "Dragonfly in Amber" is set, Screenrant reported.
Meanwhile, Heughan teased that the filming of the season is almost complete. He had been sharing that on his Twitter account where many fans are getting updates of the next season.
“Season 2 is almost complete, #Droughtlander is almost over! Thanks again to out extended Clan of Outlander Fans, we make it for them,” Heughan said according to Radio Times.
Apart from that, Heughan also thanked fans since "Outlander" is named as the Radio Times TV Show Champion 2015 with over seven million votes due to the support of the "Clan Outlander" and "The Fannibals," Movie News Guide reported.
The actor even said that he is happy that "Outlander" won the award and is being recognized in the United Kingdom. According to him, the award is a "huge Christmas present."
"Outlander" Season 2 will feature more political schemes, more action as well as more romance for the couple. It is expected to premiere on March or April 2016.
