Car manufacturers including BMW have demonstrated innovation and product development during the last few years. With technology growing rapidly, these car manufacturers keep up by adding futuristic features to their vehicles.
To show the world what one of the leading cars has to offer, BMW demonstrated their gesture control function during the 2015 Consumer Electronics Show (CES) in Las Vegas, Nevada. They showed off that their newest addition is that car owners will now be able to adjust the volume, access the navigation, and answer a call without having to touch a single button. Everything can now be done and controlled using in-air gestures.
The German manufacturer then explained that this feature is part of their next-generation of technologies available in their all-new 7 Series Sedan roster, Mashable reported.
Despite the added technology that BMW equipped in their 7 Series Sedan, it did not stop the carmaker from developing their technology further. During the 2015 CES, BMW already introduced their next generation of gesture control which was 3D gesture control called the AirTouch.
The AirTouch gives users the ability to control a panoramic touch screen without touching it. For a person to navigate through the screen, BMW engineers has added a sensor at the center of the console which reads the hand movements in three-dimension.
For those who are already familiar with BMW's iDrive infotainment system, the manufacturer has integrated its ability with the AirTouch. This cuts down its function menu and makes the user life easier by being able to activate its features with a few hand gestures, Detroit News wrote.
These new gesture control features from BMW are cooler than they look. These functions aim to bring systems to drivers limiting its distraction level by being able to control all the infotainment demands without taking the eyes off the road.
