It has been almost two weeks since the Miss Universe 2015 pageant but it seems like Miss Colombia 2015 Ariadna Gutierrez has still not recovered from the highly controversial winner mix-up.
Gutierrez was interviewed by W Radio from Colombia on Wednesday, Entertainment Tonight reported. In the interview, the Colombian beauty queen admitted to agreeing with Donald Trump for the first time regarding sharing the pageant crown with the real winner, Miss Philippines Pia Wurtzbach.
Trump issued a statement after the beauty pageant held on Dec. 20 in Las Vegas. The former Miss Universe owner mentioned that the candidates from the Philippines and Colombia should have been co-winners. Miss Colombia, who was wrongfully crowned, said this is what the new pageant organizers should have done.
Gutierrez also mentioned in her interview that she thought Steve Harvey -- the host for the night and the man who made the mistake of announcing the wrong winner -- was joking when he corrected his mistake. The beauty queen further said that if the mistake was done deliberately to gain high ratings, then in that case the new Miss Universe owner succeeded.
The 22-year-old beauty queen said, "It was very humiliating for me, but also for the whole country and for all the people not only from Colombia but the other Latinos that were in the auditorium."
Meanwhile, many commenters on the website wrote in their dismay on how Miss Colombia is handling the gaffe, with some saying that her 15 minutes of fame was up so she should just stop humiliating herself because she did not even win to begin with. Others pointed out that the crown should never be shared between her and Pia Wurtzbach, Miss Philippines, because it was just a mistake.
Niecy Nash and Perez Hilton, who judged during the pageant night, already confirmed that all four judges voted for Miss Philippines. Even if Gutierrez won the viewers' and candidates' votes, Wurtzbach is still the clear runaway winner. Since this is the case, there was no tie between the two beauty pageant candidates, hence no sharing of crown should ever be done, said the online users.
