Rumor has it that Rockstar Games is now currently working on "Grand Theft Auto 6" and that it is coming very soon.
A couple of months ago, a video claiming to be a trailer for the upcoming game "Grand Theft Auto 6" made rounds igniting speculations that a new "GTA" installment was underway. It turned out that the video was nothing but a hoax. No matter how interesting the contents of the video were, the logo was a dead giveaway that it was fake, according to Metro. The publication also added that Rockstar said everyone was busy with "GTA Online" at that time so it was unlikely that anybody was working on a GTA 5 sequel. Here's the video from Metro.
Even now that Rockstar Games is confirmed to be currently working on "Red Dead Redemption 2," the "Grand Theft Auto 6" rumors still would not stop, according to N4BB. One of those rumors suggest the addition of a female protagonist that will have a likeness to Eva Mendes and that the character will also be voiced over by the Hollywood actress.
Along these rumors is the story that Ryan Gosling will also be in the upcoming game. With the involvement of those two Hollywood A-listers, then comes the stories that the next "GTA" is expected to have a whopping $300 million budget, which is not farfetched considering that "GTA 5" had an estimated $265 million, including marketing finances. Not bad for an AAA game that sold 50 million copies and fetched over $1 billion in the first 72 hours it was released.
If "GTA 5" is a huge success, it would totally make sense for the company to come up with a "Grand Theft Auto 6." According to Value Walk, many sources have reported that President of Rockstar North, Leslie Benzies, has confirmed development of "GTA 6." So, if the rumors that a sequel is already in development, Rockstar games must be faced with tons of high fan expectations. There have been reports saying that fans are expecting bigger maps or locations outside of the United States as a setting for the upcoming sequel while there are those suggesting the addition of natural disasters to the game's story line.
As for the release date, according N4BB, "Grand Theft Auto 6" is unlikely to come out earlier than Q4 of 2018, with reports saying that it might be the first game released for Sony's rumored PlayStation 5.
